Hará unos meses, cuando me comunicaron que Anna Cortina y Philippe Boonen iban a trabajar juntos, no pude alegrarme más. Dos personas a las que aprecio y admiro juntarían sus respectivos talentos para crear una colección de bolsos numerada e irrepetible. La sorpresa estaba asegurada, ¡solo cabía esperar!

A few months ago, when we were told that Anna Cortina and Philippe Boonen were going to work together, I couldn’t have been happier. Two people who I appreciate and admire would bring their respective talents together in order to create an extensive and unrepeatable handbag collection. The surprise was assured; it was just a case of waiting!

Hoy tengo el placer de presentaros la nueva colección de bolsos de Anna Cortina, Animales Urbanos, ilustrada por Philippe Boonen. Una colección exclusiva, firmada por el artista y numerada. Únicamente se han ilustrado 10 modelos de cada animal urbano de la colección, sin opción a reposición.

Today I have the pleasure of presenting you with the new handbag collection by Anna Cortina, Animales Urbanos, with Philippe Boonen’s illustrations. It’s an exclusive collection, signed by the artist and numbered. There are only 10 models of each urban animal from the collection, without there being any chance of having a replacement.

Animales Urbanos es un guiño al origen del ser humano. Una colección de bolsos que lleva consigo un mensaje claro: cuidemos el equilibrio entre naturaleza y urbe. Somos animales, no nos olvidemos.

Animales Urbanos is a nod to the origin of being human. It’s a handbag collection that holds a clear message: we take care of the balance between nature and the metropolis. We are animals; let’s not forget that.

Fruto de la libertad que le otorga Anna Cortina al artista para ilustrar en sus bolsos a modo de lienzo, nace esta colección llena de sentimiento que nos acerca el lado más salvaje de la naturaleza y lo humaniza. Elefantes, galgos, gatos, jirafas, leones, monos, osos, perros, pollitos, tigres, tiburones… La firma lanza una pregunta: ¿con cuál de ellos os identificáis?

As a result of the freedom that Anna Cortina has bestowed upon the artist in order to illustrate them on her handbags like a canvas, this collection that is full of feelings and is drawing us closer to the wildest side of nature and it humanises it. Elephants, greyhounds, giraffes, lions, monkeys, bears, dogs, chicks, tigers, sharks… The brand is asking the question: which one do you feel identified with? 

Sobre Philippe Boonen, os cuento una pincelada de su interesante trayectoria profesional. Trabajó durante varios años diseñando accesorios para Chanel y en proyectos escenográficos (artísticos) para Sonia Rykiel y Andrés Sardá. Ilustra en libros, revistas, campañas publicitarias…, y pinta murales en proyectos de todo tipo, tanto privados como públicos y de grandes magnitudes.

Regarding Philippe Boonen, I can tell you a bit about their interesting professional journey. For several years he worked on designing accessories for Chanel and on scenic (artistic) projects for Sonia Rykiel and Andrés Sardá. It is illustrated on books, in magazines, publicity campaigns…, and painted on all kinds of murals, from private ones to public ones and ones on a grand scale.

El alto nivel de creatividad de Philippe Boonen hace que esté constantemente renovándose buscando nuevos caminos. Cuando Anna Cortina lo conoció, lo tuvo claro: no quería matar la espontaneidad del artista y le dio carta blanca para expresar su mundo personal. Así nació la colección Animales Urbanos de Anna Cortina ilustrada por Philippe Boonen.

The high level of creativity shown by Philippe Boonen means that he is constantly reinventing himself by looking for new ways of doing things. When Anna Cortina met him, it was clear to her: she didn’t want to get rid of the spontaneity of the artist and she gave him carte blanche so as to express his personal world. That is how the Animales Urbanos collection by Anna Cortina with Philippe Boonen’s illustrations.
