Last Friday, within the framework of the MBFWM, a hand-painted yellow leather shopping bag with the word PEACE on it was the tribute to Ukraine by the handbag designer Anna Cortina<\/strong> <\/a>and the Galician designer Jorge V\u00e1zquez<\/a><\/strong>, with which they pledged for the end of an unjust war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strange moan and crying of the Flemish painting taking centre stage on the catwalk gave rise to a dramatic spectacle that evoked a deep uneasiness about the future of Ukraine due to the Russian invasion, while the Ukrainian model Samy<\/strong>, dressed in a yellow shirt with wide sleeves with a large flower in the same colour as an ornament on her neck, some blue high-waisted sequin-covered trousers and the PEACE bag<\/strong>, opened the fashion show for the Autumn-Winter 2022\/2023 “pr\u00eat-\u00e1-porter” CASTIZO<\/strong> collection by Jorge V\u00e1zquez<\/strong>, an ode to the purest patriotic style to freedom, traditions, handcraftsmanship, mastery of technique, selection of fabrics and colours and vibrant items of clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to accessories designer Anna Cortina, \u201cpower without awareness is an atrocious weapon. The PEACE bag<\/strong> reflects our deepest wish, peace for the Ukrainian people, and vindicates the most important fundamental right, the right to life. These are times to help and review values, everything else is less big of a deal.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The brand will donate a percentage of the sales to the charity UNHCR<\/strong>, which works for aid in the humanitarian crisis brought on by the war in Ukraine. I attach the link to those interested in buying it here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anna Cortina<\/strong>, thanks to the Galician designer, presented a collection of hand-painted bags by Philippe Boonen, one of the most experienced artists in Anna Cortina\u2019s portfolio<\/em> of #ArtMeetsFashion, inspired by the main prints in the collection making up 11 iconic pieces. A unique proposal, full of colour, style and strength, impregnating Jorge V\u00e1zquez<\/strong> with his universe full of metaphors and imagination, meaning each bag tells a unique story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new collection by Jorge V\u00e1zquez goes on a tour of Spain in the 70s and stops at the nights of the Chicote Museum, those eternal nights in which appearances and “glamour<\/em>” had a place to sit at the bar, where myths of classic Hollywood alternated with the “cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me<\/em>” homeland; bullfighters, aristocrats, writers, artists… All of them came to Museo Chicote not only for what they drank, but also for how it made them feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection has materialised through fluid, flowing, light silhouettes; it is going for draping, items of clothing that are all seem to show off the waist, but have touches of volume. Strong tones are the stars of the show: oranges, fuchsias, purples, and lime greens, which are taking a break from the black and white of the time. As well as the prints: floral \u2013a classic by the fashion house\u2013, hearts and the characteristic “paisley” with certain “hippie” throwbacks. True to his style, V\u00e1zquez enriches his designs with crystal and silk flowers, jewel bows, feathers, and touches of fur in cuffs that are adorned with fox fur. As far as the fabrics are concerned, velvets, tweed, printed muslins, sequins, lace and silks are present. Special mention to the Peruvian alpaca wool that, thanks to the collaboration with Promper\u00fa, are being used in the manufacture of outerwear and knitwear with 70s aesthetic and ethnic touches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
