“School, a place of culture that educates generations through debate, enlightenment and social interactions, is a place that enables young people to grow and develop. I thought back to the encounters and conflicts I faced over those years and realised how fundamental they were in shaping my character and the expression of my creativity.” Lorenzo Serafini
The Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini Autumn/Winter 2021 collection was born from a doodle on a white canvas, like a sheet of notebook paper on which, instead of a fountain pen, a wool thread was used to embroider simple line drawings, study notes declarations of love. A page that becomes a quilted wool cardigan, the starting point for a collection that tells the story of students’ lives inside an imaginary college through their clothes: the first day of school uniform, a dress decorated with pages of history, pleated mini kilts, majorette inspired dresses with mega-shoulder detailing, the baseball team’s kit and the perfect prom dress.
My choice: To cover one of her top items of clothing, the striped poplin maxi shirt made of cotton with a cropped cut and wide sleeves, in a very refreshing and summery look taking it out of the inspirational Lorenzo Serafini. The versatility of this item of clothing makes it the undisputed queen of the staple wardrobe, and it can be worn season after season, reinventing itself again and again.
Take note: Philosophy invites us to pair it with high-waisted pants in the new Autumn/Winter 2021 season.
