It’s already been 6 years since I started using niche cosmetics from a wide range of brands with natural products, or rather organic ones, or rather toxin-free ones. In my daily routine I go for facial and body cosmetics by Sepai, Tata Harper, Dr. Perricone, Twelve Beauty, Miriam Quevedo, Juice Beauty and Medik8. I’ve managed to get good results by making the right mixture of all of them by knowing what my skin needs at any given time. The important thing is not to use a thousand different products; we’d end up drenching our skin. We have to learn to choose very well and accompany them with good habits.
*I want to point out that I keep using the Flawless line by Sepai (Sepai Flawless Lift – Face and Neck Serum, Sepai Flawless Immaculate SPF 50 – Moisturising Cream, Sepai Flawless Lips – Lip Contour Cream) on a daily basis. Every morning. It’s a line of products that’s been developed by the use of cutting-edge technology, Retin-less, which activates retinol receptors but prevents the swollen skin effects associated with retinoids. I began using Sepai products in December 2012, here. I will never tire of repeating myself to all of you and assuring you that they are honest products and, for me, ultra-efficient ones.
Among the new cosmetics that all of these brands have presented, what I have tried out and have added to my daily beauty routine due to their fantastic effectiveness, are the following ones (take note, those of you who are interested, it’s worthwhile bearing them in mind):
MEDIK8. r- Retonoate. It’s a creamy serum that’s up to 8 times stronger than retinol yet it’s less of a skin irritant. It’s an ultra-effective youth activator that, deservedly so, has won loads of awards in the professional cosmetics and beauty sector, in magazines, etc., for being the best anti-aging product. It contains 5 key active ingredients: Encapsulated Retinyl Retinoate (Vitamin A), which stimulates collagen synthesis and cellular renovation. It’s an exclusive and patented active ingredient that has proved to be more effective yet less of a skin irritant than retinol. Vitamin E, which quenches free radicals. This powerful antioxidant also had an anti-ageing and moisturising affect. Vitamin C that combats free radicals including those that come from the sun’s UV rays. The synergy of vitamin C and vitamin E thanks to their combination increases the antioxidant effect overall. Hyaluronic Acid, which draws moisture to the skin to help keep it hydrated and supple. And Glycerine, which act as an effective humectant to support the skin’s natural barrier system.
I have been using it every night for the past 8 weeks. Just like it claims, it helps to visibly smooth out fine lines, pigmentation is reduced and the general appearance of uniformity on the skin’s surface is restored at surprisingly rapidly. Very effective. Highly recommended.
MIRIAM QUEVEDO. Glacial White Caviar Hydra – Pure Treatment Mist. It’s addictive. Amazing. It’s a soft illuminating thermal mist that’s very pure and envelops the skin in a light, highly moisturising and protective veil. I apply it to my skin several times a day to calm, detox, refresh and add the glow factor to my skin. In the morning, before applying my usual treatment. At midday (not always), on top of my treatment cream (regardless of whether I’m wearing make up or not) so that my skin gets its glow back. And at night, after my cleansing routine, before applying my treatment cream. It is formulated with Thermal Water and encapsulated Swiss Glacial Water, which unite their powers in a combination of powerful active ingredients that help to restore the skin’s moisture barrier and to restore its cutaneous metabolism. Your skin looks more refined, perfectly hydrated, protected and detoxed, getting all of its comfort, suppleness and glow back.
It’s suitable for all skin types, especially those that are dry, sensitive, dehydrated, displaying signs of ageing or sensitised.
TWELVE. Intelligent Frontier Facial Oil. A mixture of unsaponifiables, using the most precious, active and purest part of natural plant oils. Unsaponifiables are known to be like “cellular cement” thanks to the fact that they are able to repair and improve the skin’s moisture barrier and increase the synthesis of key lipids. They also calm and repair disrupted skin barriers. Decades of research has gone into them and they are known to a must-have for sensitive, dry, mature and even acne-prone skin (adult acne) but they aren’t usually included in formulations because they are difficult to get hold of, extremely expensive and very unstable.
This oil, which Pedro Catalá has been perfecting for years, is formulated by hand and contains unsaponifiables from soya, olive, sunflower seed and wheat germ oils, as well as pollen extract. Visible results can be seen in just 7 days: the skin looks stronger and more resistant, more hydrated, and it retains water much more effectively.
I use it in different ways. Sometimes I mix it with my night cream, other times I apply it directly to my skin after using the mist by Miriam Quevedo and I finish it up with the r-retonoate serum by Medik8… I always try different things out and change things up a bit.
JUICE BEAUTY. Green Apple Brightening Essence. It’s a toner and serum to be applied before your moisturising cream. It softens, refines and balances out your skin tone so as to leave it looking more glowing and smooth. It comes from Zanthoxylum extract and tamarind seeds that help to calm the skin while an anti-ageing cocktail with malic acid, alpha lipoic acid, CoQ10 and DMAE to improve its texture and reduce the appearance of pores, dark spots and imperfections. It’s suitable for sensitive skin types. It’s really fantastic.
JUICE BEAUTY. Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Overnight Cream. It’s a moisturising night cream for dry skin types that have the first signs of fine lines and wrinkles. It is formulated using advanced technology with vitamin C and fruit stem cells, infused with an organic base of grape seed oil rich in resveratrol. The extracts of evening primrose oil and Chinese narcissus, flowers that are more active at night-time, help to reduce the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles. On the other hand, the organic sea butter and the squalene derived from olives act as humectants that are intensely moisturising. On waking up, your skin appears renewed. It can be used during pregnancy. The products by Juice Beauty are formulated to be paraben free, without any petroleum derivatives nor pesticides, and their organic ingredients are certified by the USDA.
JUICE BEAUTY. Stem Cellular. Resurfacing Micro-Exfoliant. It’s an exfoliator that carries out an intensive skin microdermabrasion so as to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, to improve skin tone and reveal softer and younger looking skin. Its formula made up of certified organic ingredients, clay and micro-particles from grape and jojoba seeds offer up an alternative to conventional chemical dermabrasion: It gets rid of dead skin cells and instantly smoothens out the skin with exfoliating micro-particles made from grape seeds. It revitalises the skin with its patented formula made up of fruit stem cells that have been infused with a base of organic grape seed oil rich in resveratrol. It softens and moisturises the skin with vitamin E. Post-exfoliation is relieved with its camomile and aloe vera extracts. Important: Micro-exfoliating scrubs are not suitable for sensitive skin types.
