September brings good news for anyone in need of a pause from the city’s constant hum: the award-winning Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona —proud holder of five stars in the Forbes Travel Guide— is welcoming the new season with a series of rituals designed to reset body and mind. And yes, they sound every bit as indulgent as they do exclusive.

Among the highlights are the Inner Glow Ritual, facial reflexology and healing massages by world-renowned experts, landing on Passeig de Gràcia to offer a holistic approach that blends innovation, ancestral techniques and deep wellbeing. An invitation to reconnect with yourself, release tension and recharge your energy.

The star of the season is the Inner Glow Ritual, a 90-minute treatment (€250) that fuses holistic techniques, cutting-edge technology and a truly unique setting to release what no longer serves you and renew your energy. It begins with a full-body exfoliation to prep the skin, continues with an energy-balancing massage to melt away tension and finishes with a radiance-boosting facial under a projection of a starry sky. A multisensory escape designed to leave you floating — quite literally — and glowing from the inside out.

The spa will also host two exclusive pop-ups featuring international wellness masters visiting the city for a limited time only:
Facial Reflexology & Bespoke Therapies with Alex Scrimgeour
From 25 September to 6 October, the Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona will welcome Alex Scrimgeour, the acclaimed acupuncturist and massage therapist with a degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and a diploma in Tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage) from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. Throughout his career, he has trained under some of the world’s most renowned healers and acupuncturists, developing a unique approach that blends tradition, sensitivity and precision.

As he explains, his method draws on time spent in Vietnam studying Dien Chan (facial reflexology), and weaves in Chinese acupressure, Thai massage and his extensive expertise in traditional acupuncture.
During his residency in Barcelona, he will offer three of his signature treatments:
- Dien Chan facial reflexology, which releases built-up tension in the face, head and neck through massage and stimulation of reflex points, inducing a profound sense of calm.
- Acupuncture, a gentle, safe and effective therapy for a wide range of conditions.
- Healing massage, available in 60, 90 and 120-minute sessions, designed to relieve stress, address specific therapeutic needs or act as a preventative for overall wellbeing.

Bespoke Osteopathy with Ismael Mrani Alaoui
From 24 November to 3 December, the Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona will host Ismael Mrani Alaoui, an internationally renowned osteopath and Global Trainer for Technogym. With an impressive track record, he has worked with elite athletes at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, establishing himself as a leading figure in the world of holistic wellbeing.
His approach combines osteopathy, tailored sports training and mental coaching, with the aim of restoring balance, improving mobility and releasing tension. As he explains: “My method blends osteopathy, sports training and mental coaching into a single integrated strategy. I don’t just treat symptoms — I guide the body and mind back towards balance.”

During his time in Barcelona, he will offer an exclusive 60-minute osteopathy session that integrates manual techniques and cupping therapy to release tension, improve circulation and restore the body’s natural equilibrium. A treatment designed not only for athletes seeking to optimise performance, but also for anyone wishing to enhance their overall health and reconnect with a sense of lightness and renewed energy.

All of these experiences include access to the spa’s facilities: a 12-metre indoor pool, eucalyptus-infused steam room and serene relaxation area — the perfect way to extend the benefits of each treatment and sink into total calm.
Diary in hand — it’s time to take care of yourself.
