It’s 06:24 in the morning, I’m in front of my computer: a white coffee in my hand, a blank sheet; immobile and immersed in that pause before writing that floods everything. It has been two and a half months since my appendicitis operation with generalised peritonitis, a big deal in both my personal and professional life due to the severity of the surgery.
This has not been the summer of my life, why lie, but the summer of accepting and healing to live lighter, more truly. Everything happens for a reason, my appendix gave me a new opportunity to look up, pay attention and listen carefully and attentively with my ears to life, the melody.
Among what I have learned, to check that my postivity is insurmountable; my desire (for everything), my lungs and the best medicine, and that, if the scars heal, empathy and affection, too.
Back to what concerns us here, I see a horizon full of possibilities. September has always been my favourite month, the beginning of personal and professional challenges and, for me, the month of fashion par excellence. Devouring magazines (trends, culture, premieres, art) culminates in a classic in my life, because new beginnings are always exciting and enjoyable.
The new season surrenders to the après-ski style, the Gothic aesthetic, the preppy mood, the colour pink, animal print, old school inspiration, Technicolor flashes like “the fabric”, wearing micro skirts as “the garment”, the colourful tailoring as “the look”, the hot pants as “the must” of the season, the oversize coat as “the final touch”, the hoods as “the accessory”, the XL screen glasses as “the detail”, the Gucci x Adidas collaboration as “the hype” of the season, and a long etcetera that we will be going over with everything that attracts, moves and identifies us within the fashion industry.
My choice: oversized blazer from Zara’s new “Into the night” collection, created in collaboration with Kate Moss. A gender neutral garment, with a line between the male and female wardrobe, which adds positives in this trend so applauded to give a ‘twist trend’ to the rules of style. I have added the long dress with XXL neckline puckered with cord and flared hemmed skirt by the brand FARA BOUTIQUE (its modern version of the glamour of old Hollywood) and as a final touch, the mini handbag as a frayed bucket by the brand SENSI STUDIO, handmade with 100% toquilla straw.
As María Lautenschlaeger tells us at ELLE, “I see, I see… a season full of sophistication.” Let’s go for it!
