Did you know that 2,000 years ago the healing properties of Hungary’s hot springs were first observed, and the first thermal baths were built? Since then, Hungarian thermal baths have made it possible to access its magnificent healing waters by providing healing relief to bathers who have enjoyed them: from improving the scars of Roman soldiers after the war, to improving the beauty and vitality of the skin of pilgrims all around the world.
These waters have very remarkable healing properties due to the unique geological features of the region: there the Earth’s crust is thinner, so the waters collect deeply restorative minerals more effectively on their journey to the surface. The magic of healing waters comes from its unique blend of minerals and trace elements.
In Budapest alone, more than 100 spas have been built as temples to pay homage to this unique culture of the healing bath. Each thermal bath is a SPA, ‘sanitas per aquam’, which means “health through water”. As a result, Budapest was called the International Spa City 100 years ago.
In the nineteenth century, the Omorovicza family built a beautiful thermal bath, the Rácz Fürdő, on the site of an Ottoman bath, erected in turn in the 1560s on a medieval spring famous for its healing properties.
At the turn of the millennium, Stephen de Heinrich de Omorovicza was living in Budapest when he met American diplomat Margaret, chief of staff at the U.S. Embassy in Hungary.
Stephen took Margaret to the baths were built by his family. The couple observed the healing powers of these waters on their skin and decided to embark on a quest to harness their healing power and make these healing properties available to everyone.
In collaboration with a Nobel Prize-winning Hungarian laboratory (whose founder discovered vitamin C), Stephen and Margaret managed to distill and bottle the fundamental power of Budapest’s healing waters, making them bioavailable through an innovative patented elixir: the Healing Concentrate.
In a long process of biofermentation, the beneficial minerals of the healing waters are converted into complex compounds that the skin recognises and absorbs. These complex compounds are encapsulated in phospholipids, giving rise to Healing Concentrate, which guarantees the absorption of minerals deep in the epidermis. This transformative elixir drives all Omorovicza products, bottling the magic of healing waters achieving much healthier, younger, and revitalised skin.
In 2006, Stephen and Margaret launched Omorovicza at the flagship institute of Andrássy út (Andrássy Avenue), in Budapest. In 2021, they opened the doors of a new flagship institute on the same sacred street in Budapest. The institute provides a modern vision of a centuries-old healing culture, taking advantage of the essence of the healing rituals that took place in the thermal baths.
Their philosophy of ingredients responds to a clean luxury. Stephen and Margaret believe that the future of beauty does not include harmful and unnecessary synthetic ingredients, which are occlusive and prevent the skin from breathing. Therefore, Omorovicza have a zero harmful ingredients policy: all products exclude this type of ingredients. They also believe that the beauty of the future will harness the power of ancient and magical natural phenomena through ever-accelerating scientific progress.
The brand offers 6 collections: Hydro Mineral Collection, Moor Mud Collection, Queen Collection, Silver Collection, Blue Diamond Collection and Gold Collection (my one).
The Gold Collection was inspired by the anti-inflammatory properties of gold. This glamorous mineral is no more bioavailable than other humbler minerals, so Margaret and Stephen subjected pure colloidal gold to a bio-fermentation process to obtain a bioavailable gold lysate. This collection helps to repair and strengthen the skin, transforming a dehydrated complexion, resulting in revitalised and rejuvenated skin. The Gold Collection is essential to combat the signs of ageing and achieve a healthy and rejuvenated face.
This coming Monday, 10th October, at 2:00 p.m., I will conduct my first “Live” via Pure Niche Lab broadcasting from my Instagram profile here, to tell you about Omorovicza, specifically with Estefanía Nieto, a technician in Spain for the brand, who will discover the healing culture of the baths of Budapest in detail, and the benefits of each collection by Omoricza. Looking forward to being back! I’ll see you live next Monday.
*At PURE NICHE LAB you will find the entire OMOROVICZA collection.
