Denim on denim is back — but not as we knew it. This season, it goes darker, looser, and infinitely more relaxed. What used to be a basic now feels like a statement. And the barrel jeans? They’re the new uniform for women who are always one step ahead.
There are formulas that never expire — they just evolve. Denim on denim is one of them. That pairing of denim pieces — shirt and jeans, jacket and skirt, trench and trousers — stopped being a faux pas long ago. Today, it’s an attitude. A quiet way of saying: “Yes, I care about fashion, but I don’t need to prove it.”

This autumn, denim loosens up. Cuts get wider, seams soften, and movement becomes part of the silhouette. Baggy, wide-leg and raw hems return. The palette shifts: greys in every tone, earthy neutrals, deep black. Dark denim takes the lead with a new kind of elegance — grown-up, confident, precise.
And then come the barrel jeans: sculptural, curved, and full of character. They seem to defy balance, yet redefine it. Their rounded structure and contemporary energy make them the new fetish of the season. They have personality, edge, and that arty nonchalance that makes even a white T-shirt look intentional.

Wearing them is an act of confidence. They don’t need extras — just a fitted top, a simple shirt, or a cropped bomber. The rest is noise. The secret lies in letting them speak for themselves.
My pick: on this occasion, I’ve chosen a denim shirt and jeans by Golden Goose, from the Journey collection. The black denim shirt stands out for its tone-on-tone floral pattern, created using a laser technique. Black, with a regular fit and straight leg, featuring a barely visible tone-on-tone floral pattern — like a secret stitched into the fabric, the jeans are crafted from 100% cotton. they have that velvet-like washed finish that catches the light without losing sobriety. It’s the kind of denim that feels special without trying to shout. Made in Italy, with Italian soul and free spirit.

Golden Goose’s Journey collection looks back to the seventies without falling into nostalgia. Lightweight wools, soft cottons, subtle sequins, and neutral gold tones speak of freedom — and of effortless elegance. The barrel jeans, in their most refined version, fit perfectly into that world: authentic, slightly rebellious, with that “I got dressed in three minutes and nailed it” attitude.
The runways confirmed it: at Chanel, the Canadian tuxedo rose to an art form in dark grey denim with a velvet bow at the neck. At Celine, cropped jackets and straight jeans reclaimed minimalist power. At Bottega Veneta, raw denim mixed with aged leather and tactile textures that invited touch. The message was clear: more texture, more character, less literalism.

The autumn equation comes down to three gestures: dark denim, wide silhouettes, effortless attitude. Pair it with a wool coat, classic loafers, ballerinas or slouchy ankle boots. Add a sculptural belt or bold gold earrings. Nothing else is needed. Denim on denim in 2025 isn’t nostalgia — it’s evolution. It moves between utilitarian and cool, between American heritage and European modernity — today, distinctly Italian.
Happy Sunday. Happy week.
